Really seeing you
When you look someone in the eyes, they become a person. I think it’s easier to call the guy who cut you off an
asshole, the hateful commenter on that article a complete idiot, or even to walk by that homeless woman in the blankets without acknowledgment… because you don’t have to look them in the eyes. That makes you connected, accountable, maybe even vulnerable – as much afraid of what they’ll see (or not see) in you.
Open your eyes. Look into people’s souls and witness what you see with curiosity vs. judgement. Look in the mirror that way, too.
